I like to look at professional photos, so that I can aspire to have the same skills. I really like this use of depth of field. The green apples stand out and grabs the eye. The blurry pan in the background add to the depth of the photo.

I choose to post this picture that I took because I was really playing with the depth of field. I think it came out pretty well. I have been really trying to play with the settings on my camera and I think I am beginning to learn some good tools.

This is one of my favorite doodles. I like to draw this with sharpies when I’m bored. I thought it was really fun to see that I could do this digitally too! It took a lot less time too!

Yes- This looks like something a kid in the 2nd grade would draw, but I learned a lot about photoshop while I was working on it. I used the stylist for the first time, and I learned about a lot of the diffrenet brushes. Over all-Good learning expereice.

This was the photo taken by the Swan Island Dahlia photography. It is fun to see how the photos compare. This is a great photo. I can really see the whole flower, unlike mine

I took this photo at the Swan Island Dahlia show. This was a great place to explore taking pictures. I really liked filling up the whole screen with the flower. I think it makes the photo much more powerful.

I had no idea there were so many artistic possibilities associated with light. I think it's amazing that an image such as this one can be created with camera setting, movement, and light. I think there is something quit magical about this picture. There is no way anybody could see this picture in 'real' life. It is only viewable through this one picture.

Playing with ISO, Refection, and Light Up Snowflakes

For this week's blog post I have chosen this picture that I took. I started out by laying 9 light up plastic snowflakes on the ground. I then laid a mirror down next to them. The mirror is what gave me the double effect. I turned out the lights and, well, danced around with my camera. I was pretty happy with how it turned out. I am learning so much about my camera just by experimenting.

So, no I am not an artist. I have taken very view art classes in my life. I enjoy art, but I don't really have a lot of 'natural' talent. However, last year, I began to get into photography and took photo 1 at SOU. I love digital photography, and I think it is a great way to let the little artist come out in all of us.

This is my dog Holly, and she is incredibly hard to photograph because the darkness of her fur blends together. I choose this picture that I took because I think it is the best picture I have of her. I was able to use the depth of field to really bring out her features and make her stand out. I took this picture with a Cannon Rebel EOS. I am not great with the camera yet. I still have lots to learn, but one of the best ways to learn is by exploring and taking chances, and that is just what I did with this photo.

This piece was made in photoshop by a Southern Oregon University student. It inspired me to use photoshop as a tool to create anything and everything I could imagine. I am just learning photoshop and it is interesting to see the way the "mechanical brain" was put together. To think how many layers this artiest must have used just baffles my mind. It makes me excited to learn more and more about all that is photoshop!
